Dolomiti Rock Climbing - Ford DEPOSIT

$3,150.00

Due 13 July 2026.

Dates: 6-13 September, 8 Days, 7 nights

Rate: $700 USD / day + guide’s lodging, meals, and transport during 22-31 July. Additional $700 for trip planning, making hotel and hut reservations. WA B&O taxes are included in my rates for services.

Proposed Itinerary:

6 September Sunday Day 1: I'll meet you at the airport and sweep you away. It's a little more than 2 hours to Cortina d'Ampezzo, and another 30-45 minutes up to the Pass. So wherever we stay will likely depend on your arrival time. There are hotel options in Cortina and at the Pass there is the Refugio Gallina. Depending on time we'll either drive up to the pass immediately to leave a change of clothes for Day 4, or do this first thing tomorrow morning.

7 September Monday Day 2: We can wait to ride a chairlift or hike up the 1200' to Cinque Torri to climb 2-3 pitch routes on the towers before retiring to the Refugio Scoiattoli or the Refugio 5 Torri for a deserved beer, dinner and bed, all within a 15 minute walk from the climbing.

8 September Tuesday Day 3: This morning we have to hike up 500' to Rifugio Averau or Rifugio Nuvolau, where we can cache our extra stuff before heading out for the day. There are a ton of climbs up to 4 pitches in length along this ridge, littered with WWI tunnels and emplacements. We get in a climb or two and then return to the Rifugio for dinner and bed.

9 September Wednesday Day 4: It's only a 2.25 mile, downhill hike from the Rifugios to the pass, amd 0.75 mile hike on to one of the coolest climbs on this itinerary, the Sass de Stria or Hexenstein. There's WWI trenches at the foot and a string of WWI trenches from the summit all the way down the north ridge to the Forte Tre Sassi Museum of WW1. Then it's a further 15 minute walk down the pass to the Rifugio Passo Valparola for the night.

10 September Thursday Day 5: Today is another cool day. We're going to climb one of the longer routes of the itinerary up the Lagazuoi to the Rifugio Lagazuoi - which has the best views of the trip. I've never gotten to stay here, but I think it will be a highlight if we do! There is also an awesome via ferrata option up the face and through tunnels.

11 September Friday Day 6: After a hiking descent, we'll come alongside the Spigolo Comici and Ponte Falzarego. A bit shorter than yesterday's effort, and after hiking back down to Rifugio Col Gallina we'll retrieve our car and drive over to the Rifugio Dibona.

12 September Saturday Day 7: We can either climb the longest route to the highest summit of the itinerary, the summit of Tofana di Rozes, or one of two via ferrata to the Rifugio Giussani.

13 September Sunday Day 8: This is it! Our last day - no climbing planned. We can hike back to the Rifugio Dibona, take showers, and then drive back to Venice to meet our wives. If there's time, we can stop at the Messner Mountain Museum Dolomites (it's open 10-5 on Sundays).
